Ok, this is my pattern for a head huggy warm hat!
Since I wrote it, I guess you guys can have it for free :D

Ok, I used Patons "Spirit" wool (in shade Bracken) which is a mohair/acrylic mix (25%/75%) but it should work with any chunkyish or mohairy type yarn.

I used a size 6 hook (I think that's a J for any Americans) and didn't really pay much attention to gauge- but I do crochet kinda tight. Makes about a 22" circumference, but you can tighten or loosen it as you want. :D

Glossary of terms & translation:
ch= chain (US= chain)
sl st= slip stitch (US= slip stitch)
tr= treble (US= double crochet)
dc= double (US= single crochet)

Using English terms (cuz, I'm English y'all):

Ch 5, join w/ sl st.
R1) Ch 3, 11 tr in ring, join w/ sl st, turn.
R2) Ch 3, 2 tr in each tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R3) Ch 3 *tr in each tr, 2 tr in tr, rep from *, join w/ sl st, turn.
R4) Ch 3 *tr in tr, tr in tr, 2 tr in tr, rep from *, join w/ sl st, turn.
R5) Ch3, tr in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R6) Ch3, tr in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R7) Ch3, tr in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R8) Ch3, tr in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R9) Ch3, tr in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R10) Ch 1, dc in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R11) Ch 1, dc in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R12) Ch 1, dc in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R13) Ch 1, dc in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R14) Ch 1, dc in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.
R15) Ch 1, dc in tr, join w/ sl st, turn.

Finish off, weave in ends.

*IMPORTANT EDIT*
Ok, forgot to mention that up to row 9 is really the actual size your hat's gonna be, so try it on and see if you need more rows (length) to keep your ears toasty before you go on to do the double stitch rows.
Also, if you do the double stitch rows a bit tighter, in an acylic DK yarn, you can set the hat further back on your head, making it slightly beret-y-fied. Ok. I think that's all

If anyone's got any problems with my instructions, please let me know (via pm or something) and I'll do my best to help out! :D

~ enjoy my first ever pattern! :love:
